Could over-training be sabotaging your results?

Once we set our mind on achieving our weight loss goals, we are determined to push ourselves in new ways.
Three HYPOXI Sessions a week, balanced diet and active lifestyle are great ways to get to your ideal weight and size.
However, some of our clients like to do another type of exercise on their days off.
It could be endurance training, aerobic exercise, weight training and/or flexibility and balance classes like Yoga and Pilates.

Our HYPOXI-Coaches always encourage this as exercise has far too many health benefits besides weight loss and variety is the Spice of Fitness.
If you don’t diversify your workouts, your body plateaus. It simply adapts and you stop seeing results. Alternating HYPOXI with, for example, strength training and core exercises could help you get even better results.

However, it’s important to understand that over-training can have the opposite effect!

What are some of the most common negative side effects of training too much, too often or both?

Insomnia

Exercise ramps up your heart rate, core temperature, and sweat rate. It also has an excitatory effect on your nervous and endocrine systems. The more strenuous the exercise and the longer the workout or competition, the longer you have been in this excited or aroused state. Two of the hormones that appear to play a significant role in post-workout sleep disturbances are norepinephrine and cortisol.
If you have a lot of trouble sleeping, it’s a sign you might need to cut down on the cardiovascular activities.

Muscle Exhaustion

High-intensity workouts are great to combine with HYPOXI. As long as you don’t do both on the same day.
These workouts should not be done more than three times per week. When you work your fast-twitch fibres, it takes about 48 hours for that fibre to heal and fully recover. This is twice the recovery time needed for long and slow exercise, which only work your slow-twitch fiber. Depending on your lifestyle and diet, the muscle exhaustion can feel eternal with the soreness lasting for as long as a week.

If you experience muscle soreness that inhibits your ability to move properly, perhaps limit your routine to HYPOXI only that week.
We highly recommend HYPOXI-Dermology treatments which aid muscle recovery.
By increasing the supply of oxygen and nutrient enriched blood to damaged tissue, cell activity is increased resulting in speed regeneration.

Stomach issues

The research, which comes from Australian sports journal Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, shows that intense physiological stress on the body can trigger Leaky Gut Syndrome – a condition in which the gut lining weakens, resulting in the passage of germs and toxins into the bloodstream.
Symptoms like diarrhoea, constipation, gas or bloating are very common among people with Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Remember to listen and respect your body! This attitude will get you closer to your body goals than pushing yourself too hard.
